A mine worker sustained leg injuries in an underground incident that occurred last Friday at the Oaky Creek mine near Tieri in Central Queensland.

The worker was bought to the surface four hours later where he was treated on site by a doctor dispatched from Emerald.

Speaking to the CQ News, a Glencore spokesman said, “The employee was treated by ambulance crews and doctors at the mine site before being taken to hospital by helicopter.”

“Operations at the mine have stopped and an investigation into the incident is underway.”

At this stage the nature of the incident is not known.
