A resources services company prepared and organised its workforce at a metal development.
Thiess Australia recently finished mobilising its crew at Covalent Lithium’s Mount Holland Mine, 308km southwest of Kalgoorlie.
The successful bidder successfully increased the number of workers from eight to 60 despite facing many challenges due to the pandemic. First ore is expected some time in October 2022.
“It has been really helpful to have core people come across from our other projects, with trust and accountability already well-engrained in the team,” project manager Jamie Pringle said in a public statement.
“Our safety team worked extremely hard to ensure our health and safety management system was in place before we began mobilising, which means our team has maintained a strong safety record to date – ensuring everyone safe every day.”
The employer promises to “actively work” with both Indigenous Australian and local businesses to identify employment and supply chain participation opportunities.
Milestones include:
- moving first dirt on February 4
- assembling EX1200 digger on February 7
- assembling EX1900 digger on February 18
- conducting first blast on April 12 via subcontractor Ozland Drilling.
